AN IDEA THAT FELL FROM THE SKY
A skydive fundraiser was organised by Michelle in 2018 to raise money for a local charity. It was as Michelle’s body was weightlessly folding out of an aeroplane she believed she could do more.
Sasha Would’ve Loved It first started as a non-profit organisation and has now developed as a recognised local charity with the goal of raising money to support teenagers in Cornwall during their cancer journey.
We aim to help in any and all aspect we can to support every teenagers journey. Thanks to our continuous income from our shop & cafe it allows us to make monthly outgoings to our local hospital to accommodate families who might’ve rushed straight in for appointments/surgeries, stayed longer than expected to be able to get anything as simple as a bite to eat. Our money donations are also spent on emergency travel to hospitals and to help families living away from home to be able to stay with their loved one. Our goal is to provide individual experiences and to facilitate their goals/hobbies as life doesn’t just stop at the word cancer.
Using our own experience going through Sasha’s treatment as to what small distractions proved invaluable helped guide us in what we could provide for the teenagers whilst going through treatment. Putting our experience to use a Netflix subscription has been set up for the teenagers to use as and when in the hospital as well as game boxes for the wards. Thanks to the support of Asda & Sainsburys have helped to create care boxes which are regularly restocked by us containing necessities such as toothpaste, deodorant, shower gel & shampoo etc. We found that an emergency trip to hospital can come at any time and would never pack enough for however long we needed to stay for or completely forgot necessities as our only aim was to get to hospital.
BENeFICIARIES
We aim to support our beneficiaries dependent on every individual as not every battle is the same. Their world doesn’t stop at the word cancer. Some choose to carry on their driving lessons, following their passions and hobbies such as photography and working out. We’re here to make sure these things can be done.
Aiming to fulfil every request from helicopter experiences or ziplining over quarry's we will definitely try with our hardest to make it happen!
