SASHAS STORY
its a hard job to describe a person, to narrow down specific memories, to make a personality come to life with only words.
SASHA MICHELLE WATSON
In 2013 Sasha was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called fibrolamellar. The word itself ‘cancer’ sent shock waves, it made our world deafeningly silent. Sasha’s laugh always broke through our sound barrier, her constant unwavering zest for life made our broken reality a second life. Our first life made bearable from Sasha’s ability to crack a joke, roll her sleeves up and get stuck into living her life. She endured 3 operations, 1 on her liver & 2 on her lungs followed by numerous rounds of chemotherapy. Her fierce love of life overshadowed her illness, to the unsuspecting world she was still a regular 17 year old passing her driving test, training to be a hairdresser, celebrating her 18th birthday, going to concerts, pushing herself at physical challenges, our list is endless. To know Sasha was to love her.
After a 2 year hard fought battle Sasha lost her fight in 2015, 3 weeks after her 19th birthday. Thanks to the support of many charities and St Julias Hospice it enabled her to be surrounded by family & friends, this also allowed her parents to stay with her 24/7. The time we were able to spend with our Sasha was invaluable.
Sasha has inspired us endlessly, living our lives the way she always did, challenging ourselves in ways we can only imagine she challenged herself daily. Sasha has pushed us to go way out of our comfort zone to raise as much money to support teenagers who are fighting their own battles, to support charities who helped in ways our minds couldn’t comprehend whilst going through an unimaginable time.
People always apologise for the loss of our Sasha, no one asks the question, what was she like?
Sasha’s spirit was unlike any other, her rebellious nature, an infectious laugh. Someone you could tell a problem to and instead of using a logical solution would chuck the problem out the window and carry on.
A very generic way to describe Sasha, she really was the world’s best big sister and no.1 daughter we needed in our life. Everyone deserves a force of nature in their lives.
